WELCOME TO MUNWEB 2021

To all delegates, chairs, observers, and participants of MUNWEB 2021,

It is my pleasure to invite you all to the first annual MUNWEB Conference hosted by Webster Leiden. Webster Leiden is excited to be hosting its first of these conferences in order to give our students an opportunity to connect with each other and other students around the world. Model United Nations has always held a very special place in my heart, and I have been a part of the MUN community for almost 8 years. Webster University has a long-held tradition through our Model United Nations Association. I hope to continue this legacy with my position in the conference and the creation of this conference at Webster Leiden.

As the world hits pause during this COVID-19 pandemic, we hope to continue the tradition of Model United Nations that is so prevalent at our university. We hope to continue to provide for our students this experience in debating and simulating the United Nations during their time with us at Webster University. We as a university strive to continue stimulating our students and giving them opportunities to interact despite the online environment that is currently taking over our way of life. This COVID-free model of our conference will still make it possible for students to be social with each other at a safe distance.

We hoped to forego an overall theme in our conference, simply focusing on the most prevalent issues the global community has been facing. As such, in that regard, one could say our theme hopes to discuss the issues that are currently ongoing and giving our delegates a chance to create solutions to conflicts that give them the possibility to consider how their solutions may apply in real-life scenarios.

I am honored to be serving as the Secretary-General for this conference, and I hope all of our delegates, no matter where they may come from, enjoy our conference and engage in fruitful and meaningful debate as they interact with one another.
